Why not him?

I can't think of a good reason why LeBron shouldn't win the MVP this season. He might become the new Shaq—never wins it because otherwise they'd have to give it to him for the next decade.

Shaq is Shaq, Nash has quarterbacked the league's most dominant team, Wade has been tremendous, AI is having a career year, and Dirk has become a full-fledged force. Would you really want any of them on your team more than LeBron?

There is nothing this man can't do. When he's coached with this in mind, the Cavs do things like steamroll the Mavs without Gooden or Traylor (note: it's clearly time for the PG experiment to get back on track). There's no such thing as a one-man team, but the Cavs are a much different, much better team when they do ask LeBron to do it all.

Sorry for the spate of dead-serious posts (this one's almost apocalyptic, actually). Maybe I should lay low until I perk up a little.

Someone email me as soon as Pavlovic hits an open three. That should be enough time for me to get it together.

I think it works like this:

1) Who has the best stats: TD, KG, Lebron, Vinsanity, Nash, Amare, Matrix, Pierce, Shaq, Flash, Dirk, AI

2) Did they play almost all of the season: everyone minus TD

3) Does the team have a good record:
throw out KG, AI, and Vince

4) Are they the number one guy on their team who makes people better: throw out Flash, Amare, and Matrix...also Pierce cuz he doesn't really make anyone better.

5) Is the player good at everything (i.e. offense and defense): throw out Nash and Dirk

6) Leaves you with Shaq and LeBron. Shaq made "heroes out of subs" to quote some schmo on NBA Nation. Ira Newble still sucks.

eddie jones still stinks. all damon jones can do is hit a three; lebron's guys get plenty of looks, they just can't make them. haslem was pretty good without shaq.

lebron makes people better directly (giving them the ball, setting up plays) and indirectly, shaq only mostly indirectly

T-Mac fits in there somewhere...but there's too much Yao-involvement with the Rockets for him to win it.
