Group Participation

In a continued effort to make FreeDarko-lite type posts for the next couple days, I would like to make two points and then engage our readership in some collective prediction-making.

-First, nothing pisses me off more than when "THE AGENTS" get blamed for fostering an increased likelihood of a lockout or work stoppage. The players are greedy, the owners are (less?) greedy. Let's assign some responsibility here.

-Second, Scoop Jackson has been a WHOPPING disappointment for ESPN's Page 2. His "Wilt" piece today is ridiculous.

Now, on to the PREDICTIONS:

Reggie Miller: over-under 15 points?

Wallace Brothers: rows or no rows?

Rasho: PT or no PT?

Indy-Det: does the game end with a standing ovation for Reggie, with 45 seconds left and the Pacers down 18 points...or do we get one last clutch Miller Time performance?

SEA-SAN: who the fuck wins this? i have no idea

Fortson: over-under 5 fouls?

Who's fighting tonight?

Key Arena: Ichiro sighting? I say yes.

Conseco Fieldhouse: Artest sighting?

'Shard: factor or no factor?

non-ReggieMiller player most likely to cry tonight?

X-Factor of the night: Big Dog? Brent Barry? Flip Murray? Fred Jones? Arroyo?

reggie: over

wallace boys: rows on the road

no PT for Darko

pistons and spurs both win tonight

five fouls for fortson

a frustrated ray-ray pretends to try and fight bowen.

since he's got no action tonight and plays at home tomorrow ichiro watches sonics.

no artest.

shard doesn't play.

crying: man, that's a tough one. i'll say nick collison sheds a few tears, just because he sounded like he really believed the sonics could win this thing.

barry finally hits a shot or two.

reggie gets pulled when the lead goes to ten with five seconds left. standing ovation.

game ends. some polite applause (this is some cain and abel shit, but play the story in reverse. same thing eithe direction). lots of hugs. interviews start.

suddenly, lights go out. camu tao's "hold the floor starts blaring." smoke machines on blast. artest gets lowered from the ceiling, backlit, on a platform with eyes toward the sky and arms akimbo. mixtape-style gunshot when he hits the ground. ligths come up. wild applause. artest just stands there. fireworks go off. artest holds up a gigantic "indiana pacers 2005-2006 tickets on sale: a new chapter."

billups, sheed, and ben wallace laughing their asses off. come up to artest, solemnly tap fists, and THE DANCE PARTY BEGINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

funny shit. personally, i was hoping for a WWF moment at the beginning of game 3. just before tipoff, the commish's music hits (what would this be?) and stern walks to the court with mic in hand. he announces that since he has already missed 82 games, ron artest is reinstated. artest's music blares (obviously that 4-ize track from awhile back) and ron charges to the court as the conseco crowd erupts.

i don't know what i was thinking listing barry as an x-factor. Robert Horry is THE x-factor. eternally.
