Hot or Not?
All right, so no one gives a fuck about sports internationalism. Back to hoops and shoes. Whose new shoe is hotter: Bron or Wade?
They're improvements over last year's models, which were both pretty hideous. If I remember correctly, these guys have some input on the design of their signature shoes. There was a big deal made about incorporating some of the H2's design into Lebron's first joint, since he is notorious for his Hummer (nh). The new one is all right, but all the black leather and straps give it kind of an S & M feel. Maybe not a good look.

The Wade has already generated some internal debate at Free Darko headquarters (which has no physical home, but lives and breaths on this here internets). THC is on record as stating that they are among the ugliest basketball shoes ever created, even mentioning the word "Mutombo." Personally, I think they're kind of fly. They have a really clean design that's fresh, but still simple. The C-O-N-V-E-R-S-E is lame, but it doesn't detract from the overall appearance too much for me. But, what's up with the little red rectangles on the heel? They look like tail lights. Could that be on purpose?

i pay almost no attention to sneakers that don't look old and/or totally insane, and don't care much about wade or the heat. so sorry if this question has an obvious answer. but why are wade's signature kicks laker colors?
i think maybe they're marquette colors??
You know how some dudes think that all rap music that was made after say 1996 sucks? With regards to rap music, I'm not one of those guys, but that's definitely how I feel about most shoes.
In other words, both these fudgers are ugly.

Defintely Lebron's. It's the modernized Jordan. Like Lebron. Except he's not really like Jordan at all. The modernized Moses in the modernized Jordans. Sounds about right.
what we really should be going at here is the fact that arenas wore some low-tops the other night that looked for all the world like shelltoes, and mccants posed in uni for that photo with garnett wearing lows that looked a lot like 1's. i'll try to dig up some photos when i get a chance, but does anyone know for sure on either one of these, and if so, does this offer hope for the dawning of a new day?
The Wades in Heat colors
I think nice.
For style purposes, wade's(i'm not a huge fan of the color scheme but there are other colors) are better than lebron's for me. For playing purposes, i'd have to try them on and see how they feel with ankle support, snuggness without being tight, and comfort. I had lebron's first shoe a year after it came out when the price dropped to about $80 and i used them as strict court shoes. They were comfortable to wear, but i couldn't find a good fit, they had bad air ventilation, and felt kinda clunky(on the sides where you normally roll your ankle). The wade's look a bit like the iversons from a year ago which i own and love for court use.
the black and reds are hot the way the ibook is. as in, technology should come off as slick and futuristic--we presume that to be a measure of how functional it is--and then look tasteful within those parameters. the lebrons, on the other hand, are just ugly shoes.
btw, i just got called out on the francis post for over-otherification, which i'm surprised no one did earlier. of course, i had something to say, but i'd be interested in hearing if anyone finds my response convincing, or consistent with my initial rant.
for jeff and andreo's benefit, i changed the pic to the black and red wades. looking at the brons and the wades with that red and black color scheme only underscores how much they're both pretenders to the air jordan throne.
not that there weren't a lot of ugly jordans over the years. because there were. he had about a one hot shoe every 5 year average.

Couldn't disagree more with the one hot shoe every five year remark, you must have the Mike's confused with Jay-Z's take on Nas's career...
i'm not confused, that's called an allusion. there have been, what, 20 different jordans? are there more than 4 that aren't kinda ugly? most of the ones that came in the 90's were butt.
I personally think The D-Wade's are fly, and I'd cop a pair if I happened to find an extra benjamin in my couch cushions one of these days.
Also, anyone know if the track used in the Wade commercial is a real song, or just something Converse cooked up for the commercial? I'm kinda embarassed to admit I sorta enjoy it and it might have piqued my curiousity somewhat...
Not sure about the current Wade commercial, but the music for his commercial from last season was created by Grandmaster Flash. Doesn't really answer your question, but thought it was worth mentioning anyway.
