Hey Girl

Doing the darn thing at Deadspin today. And it's the same old story, this time told from the perspective of trying to get my life together to unleash myself full force back into the Freedarko fold.

Krolik is bringing the pain later on today.

Regarding the deadspin piece:

The Warriors didn't beat the Mavs because Avery rode his guys too much, it was because Dirk had bone spurs and was limited in what he could do. You guys are the experts, right? Look at what a healthy Dirk has done to the Dubs this season. But playing through an injury that limits your effectiveness makes you a soft pussy choker. Am I right, guys?

For what it's worth, I don't think that the conveyed sense of false humility underestimates the viewing public. The viewing public you speak of still watches ESPN for its analysis. I mean, how is this consistent with a public which consumes day-of-the-draft grades?

I couldn't agree more re: negativity. I spent the 90s watching Pat Riley press conferences where, after the Knicks overachieved like fuck, held MJ to 15, won by 20, allowed 60 points over 4 quarters and he'd be like, "we need to commit ritual suicide . . . we should have held MJ to 14, we should have won by 30, allowing 60 is unacceptable and we need to strive for 59" and the next game they'd do that and Riley would be like, "Meh." And the whole time he'd have this look on his face like this kind-of-sort-of talented team winning 60 games a season was giving him an ulcer because they didn't go undefeated. The best years of my basketball-watching life---before the Knicks upfucked the whole Association with that grind-it-out bullshit and then, even more unforgivably, stopped being as good---all ruined by that crap.
