Death of an FBP

Will someone please explain this sentence to me, or find an image?

"Allen admitted Wednesday that the process was arduous and draining. “You have no idea,” said (Ray) Allen, sporting blond hair after his sister dyed it. “No idea. I enjoyed everything I did last year, everything I experienced. But playing under contract constraints was probably the toughest thing I ever did in this league.” Tacoma News Tribune

Here's the orginal article; snippet from Insidehoops. Trust me, they don't offer much in the way of consolation.

(Insert joke here about Darko as hair trend-setter, because we have to)

Update: Thanks to the anonymous donor of this, and two other, snapshots of public failure.

And about Kidd's similar dye-job in 2000. . . let's be real here, Kidd at least has his racial ambiguity to fall back on. It just makes him look even more white than usual.

to quote a very great basketball player in a wholly dissimilar context: "today, i am unspeakably injured." he looks terrible; i feel like everything i thought i knew about ray allen has been shattered before my very eyes. the only thing that could explain this is if he's about to come out or pursue a career as a sisqo impersonator. FBP race is now wide open.

kidd looked even worse than ray allen (or sisqo) looks. it's pretty amazing how unlikeable j-kidd is, given that his hero (magic) and his role (spectacular pass-first point guard) are so incredibly likeable. how can a player be so selfless and selfish at the same time?

also, i think grant hill is hands down the leading candidate for FBP at this point. he's got the recovery from adversity angle, went to duke for four years, and he married a black woman, even though she is canadian (!) and very light-skinned.

If Grant Hill has moved into the pole position, then David Robinson has to be the vice president. A naval officer who was just deemed on espn.com as the kindest sports figure ever? Sounds good to me.

Also, if playing a season and surprisingly winning your division and getting into the 2nd round of the playoffs without knowing how much money you would be making the next year is the toughest thing Ray Allen has ever done...yeah, I don't think he's cut out for the presidency. Course W is our president, so all bets are off.
