Even the trumpets fell

How could I have been so naive? Together or apart, Shaq and Kobe really do need the other to justify their respective existences and, on a basic, man versus sky level, make themselves whole. You can decide for yourself if this discovery nulls and voids everything I said about the two of them last month, i.e. whether they're now closer together or even further apart in their polar radiance.

note how kobe's hand is clenched...seemingly plunging an ethereal dagger into shaq's kidney...'et tu bryant'...that pretty much sums up my appraisal of this image which in no way compares with glasnost in its overarching socio-political ramifications for our oblate-elipsoid

i firmly believe that the animosity is completely staged and that shaq and kobe talk on the phone occasionally to discuss how they will treat each other when they meet on the court. i'll still watch though, just in case they decide to do something psycho.

that embrace does look a bit tentative, and i don't think we can underestimate how staged and deliberate the whole thing was ("at the urging of NBA legend Bill Russell. . ." like they were brokering a peace accord). but still, this is the nba's most acrimonious rivalry, and they've clearly made a concerted effort to let bygones be bygones. it's like, as different as they are, don't they still have more in common with each other than with most other human beings on earth?

thc called it "the highlight of the season," i'm hoping for something whose lasting significance between gasol dunking on KG and the immortal AI/MJ clip

isn't is weird that putting up a big game can be a fluke, but this kind of single play in the face of a legend is almost always a harbringer of all that is good.

Young Bol's comment reads like a Papoose song. Just sayin'.

I like how Kobe is making an ostensible effort to downplay all this shit, but still manages to let the self-importance shine through. From SI piece:

"We've been through so many wars together. Now, just be able to move on, try to do the best for this team, wish him the best in South Beach. I think it's good for the city of Los Angeles, good for the NBA, good for the youth, being Martin Luther King Day."

The Crips and Bloods are currently following suit and embracing one another in the streets. I'm glad Kobe and Shaq have overcame their differences- the fact that they're friendly again is having such a tremendous impact on the greater good.

kobe/shaq is the closest the nba's ever gotten to a rap beef. that's under the assumption that any media-driven rap war is dependant on a certain amount of preciousness and posturing.

Speaking of gasol dunking on KG, did anyone watch the Magic vs. Wolves game a couple weeks ago in late december? I was at the game and grant hill had a monster late 90s dunk right on KG on a fast break, then had some words for him afterwards. KG instantly filled with rage and looked as if he was gonna come after him until his teammate calmed him down. A minute or two later a bad call happened and he flew off the handle and started turning his anger at the refs and nearby magic players. He's lucky his teammates aren't afraid of holding him back. One of these days, he's gonna fly off the handle and kill someone.

Also, this is for anyone interested in Tony Parker's sex life:

Eva Longoria on waxing and her sex life:

"Eva Longoria couldn't climax until she had a Brazilian wax.

The 'Desperate Housewives' beauty admits she had a lacklustre sex life and struggled to reach orgasm until four years ago - when she had her first Brazilian.

She said: "Before, when I had sex I used to think afterwards, 'Did I? Er... I think so'. I was never really sure."
After having the thorough waxing, the actress says everything changed.

She said: "It opened the door to a whole new sexual side of me."

The 30-year-old added: "The first time I did it after the wax I was like, 'What's going on with my body? Oh, my God!'

"Now I'm becoming more orgasmic with age, which is awesome. I can't wait until I'm 40. If it keeps increasing this way, watch out world!"

The stunning actress, who is romancing US basketball star Tony Parker, thinks every woman should have her pubic hair whipped off to experience steamy sex.

She said: "Every woman should try a Brazilian because the sex you have afterwards will keep you coming back for more."

aug, quick note on the kg/grant hill "confrontation." about sixty seconds later, the two of them were joking with each other about the whole incident.

nice longoria piece. somehow that whole thing sounded very un-sexy, though.

aug-KG didnt even jump on that Grant Dunk. Grant dunked it before KG could even get up and did that Laphonso Ellis hang on the rim with 1 arm twirl and came down on KG who immediately started cussing him out. Good too see Grant get up like that.

That brazilian wax article sounds suspiciously like the "Performing Fellatio Decreases Chance of Breast Cancer" article that was floating around a while ago.

That being said, I'm all for benificial propaganda.

C-los, i know kg didn't jump up for it, but it was still "dunked on him" physically, not "dunked on" in the getting posterized sense. DLI, i know that they were joking later, but at the time garnett looked really pissed. Kind of like the Mo P-Vince thing, sure they were kidding, but Mo P didn't look too pleased at the time. Didn't Garnett and Spree almost murder Matt Bonner last year too? I'm just saying, i don't want to be the guy who puts him over the edge. Like poor Brad Miller who almost never got to be the great 18-8-5 guy he has become when he angered shaq.

I can't believe I'm writing this, but as a Spurs fan I feel obliged to stick up for Tony Parker's sexual prowess. The article says that Ms Longoria's - uh - downstairs epiphany four years ago. Wasn't TP a rookie four years ago? I'm not certain but I don't think his less than 10ppg and no rings would've been sufficient to attract Longria's attention. (I'm not sure about my dates, I could be wrong.)

P.S. I don't think I can post this comment under my usual alias. Regards, Jerametrius.

Sayin yo momma black, his momma this, his momma that
Then he get mad and wanna scrap
We stay mad about, ten minutes then it’s like back on the bike
To play hide and go get it with the younger hoes by the bungaloes

i think its good they put this behind them. let me get corndog for a minute and say that a lot of kids look up to shaq and kobe - emulating them while in gym class or on the court. i agree with kobe that it was important for them to kill it on MLK (national audience) for the kids to see that you need to quit being mad at people for dumb shit.

either way, i'm sure it's a load of both of their backs.
