Billups: because that's what you do at mjg's spot. do you think this is the out-the-box move pau pau wanted?

[Stuart Scott interviews Conley.]

Brown Recluse, Esq.: let's ask you about OTHER PEOPLE
Billups: "you know greg oden, right?"
Brown Recluse, Esq.: you're the 4th pick in the draft, so you played with greg oden? your dad is mike conley?
Billups: what up with O State and dudes being friends and one of the dudes' dad is like YO, I'LL BE YOUR AGENT. CAN YOU ASK YOUR FRIEND IF I CAN BE HIS AGENT.
Billups: Didn't Ginn and Troy Smith have that deal?

Billups:
this is like watching the car crash scene from Weekend
Billups: or just a car crash, it doesn't have to be from Weekend

[The Celtics select Jeff Green for the Blazers.]

Brown Recluse, Esq.: the hawks are trying to become the suns, and the sonics are trying to become the hawks

Billups: this is going to be the best pick ever
Billups: BOOM!
Billups: THAT'S HOW WE DO THINGS IN MOTHERFUCKING DAIRY COUNTRY
Brown Recluse, Esq.: you could tell b/c stern looked pissed when he walked up there
Brown Recluse, Esq.: like, i told those motherfuckers not to do this
Brown Recluse, Esq.: stern just told him, "don't sweat this, i'll take care of it."
Billups: "yeah, i just gotta iron out this hamas shit, take a hat and smile, stretch."

[The ESPN crew asks Fran Franchilla about foreign players.]

Brown Recluse, Esq.: “don't ask me, i fucked up felipe lopez”

Billups: Least that's what my shop teacher used to say.
Brown Recluse, Esq.: spencer's mom is in parents involved in community schools
Billups: spencer's mom is involved in birthing the second coming of eric montross

Billups: draft thornton

[The Sixers select Thaddeus Young.]

Brown Recluse, Esq.: he's like al thornton, but a decade younger
Brown Recluse, Esq.: you should be pleased

I'm hyped for Z-Bo and Curry in the post in NY. Cant double team either of them and Curry doesnt hafta worry about rebounding as much with DLee and Randolph bringin down 10+. Plus Zach's profile pic on the WWL is pure crack.

BTW, Billups might be the funniest dude on the interpages. Had me in stitches.

I would try to conquer Billups, but he has no territory.

Curry, Z-Bo and Lee will work when the opposing small forward is Bruce Bowen, otherwise that lineup is getting torched.

@ T.: Is Sun Yue any good?

kaifa -

pros - remarkably steve smith lite game. I love tall point guards. Nice Handles. Smooth. Creative passer. Has already lived in the US for a year - so culture adjustment is less.

cons - I think I could push him over. He really is already 22. He's been playing in the CBA and the ABA and aside from an ABA all-star appearance isn't really dominant.

I think he innately had the talent to play in the NBA. But since he's 22, and been playing chumps for the last few years - I don't think he's going to make it.

On the other hand, if you can driblle and walk at the same time, you're ahead of Smush Parker.

I don't know enough about his intestinal fortitude, attitude and penchant for hard work to make a conclusive arguement - but I think if he was 18, it'd be a good pick. If he had been in the US or played in the NCAA it'd be a good pick. I think it might be a long shot in his current situation.

Why does Detroit have 18 shooting guards, an old checkers player with a walker at center (you know C-Webb ain't playin' no chess) and the only guy to back up the one GOOD Joe D pick in 3 years is...someone they already decided needs to play the 4? Just once, I'd like to see a major paper but Dumars on blast for what he does. The team succeeds despite his better efforts.

Also, why do I think Isiah did far more and yet far less with one move.

Finally, Simmons is going to take a contract out on Ainge. He's using Wahlberg's guy from "Shooter" with his accent from "The Departed."

RRFR= Randolph rolling to Far Rockaway. Him and Curry gonna blaze the haze away.

billups+recluse=unfuckwithable

zach randolph+eddy curry=a historically awful defensive frontcourt. isiah lord thomas III blows my mind again, but I have to give him props for getting rid of Franchise's hideous contract. Portland in 2 yrs or so will just melt our brains-Oden/Aldridge/?/Roy/Rodriguez with Petteri, Rudy Fernandez and hopefully Joel Freeland coming off the bench.

it kind of weirds me out that the Spurs, who already own Scola's rights, drafted his freaking running partner in Tau Ceramica's frontcourt.

T: are you gonna keep that chat room open? you know, like for next season maybe. also, I don't quite understand it, but didn't Sun Yue's team get kicked out of the CBA and wind up just relocating to the States?

I loved that Fraschilla said one bad thing about the Splitter pick was that he couldn't come over for a season. Oh yeah, they really need interior help now, Fran.

Favorite part of the telecast was Dicky V worried about Sean Williams and Randolph living in a big city. You know, because Williams didn't go to BOSTON College.

I hope Isiah sticks Z-Bo and Curry on opposite blocks, never has them move, and sees what happens for a few quarters.

Kevin Pritchard is a mad genius.

Love the Marco Belinelli pick. Padraig, how does this affect Euro relations on the Warriors?

So, it turns out BC is actually in the suburbs, but I don't think that kept him out of the city too much.

Thanks, T. So Turiaf is probably still the only real rotation player the Lakers have picked from the international ranks - unless little Gasol really profits from the good NBA drugs... eh nutritional supplements.

Also, here's Page 2's Nick Young story:

padraig - as far as I'm aware, that thing doesn't close. I'm not sure what would warrent a FreeDarko chat session, but yeah, that room is open.

The Beijing Aoshen story is pretty interesting. You're essentially correct - the owner of Aoshen makes Cuban look like a hands-off owner. The suspension was because they refused to release Sue Yue to the National team a couple of years ago. Paul Shirley played one or two games for them.

Kaifa - well, there's a reason I'm not a professional basketball scout. I'm just going by one or two games I've seen him play and some highlights. He could really be Steve Smith.

Will Pichi Campana Aquanta be in Vegas to take photos during summer league? Yi and Sun will be playing for the Chinese National team then.

also - MORE BILLUPS

My favorite quote of the night: "Can (J-Rich) be a Michael Jordan? We're not expecting him to be." -- Michael Jordan, after trading for Richardson.

I mean... wow. That right there is probably the best synopsis ever of why great players make lousy GMs and coaches.

Anyone have thoughts on the Warriors using the J-Rich trade exception to do a sign-and-trade for Gerald? I imagine that would be pretty popular around here.

At 7/01/2007 12:29 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Anon 12:05, the next 2 weeks will alter the NBA roster landscape so much, it's kind of silly to imagine competition in its current state.

I mean, for fucks sake, is Seattle REALLY gonna re-sign Rashard and play three small forwards and one power forward? Fuck no, he's as good as gone.

That's why I already assessed there *MIGHT* be a slowdown in postings. Nothing wrong with a lil lazy summer.

A) The season is over. Trades, schmades.
B) The FD MVP has one foot in this labor-of-love boat and one in the Fanhouse-getting-paid boat. Whether or not he hops over there completely or keeps this dinghy afloat remains to be seen.
C) We still got Billups, Dr. Lawyer Indian Chief and assorted guests.

WV: xwfwblk - Xeke, where the fuck is Balkman?
