Santa Face

Shoals is wandering around without a laptop. I just saw Steven Hunter hug a girl and then drive away in a Bentley outside of the White Palace Grill (What's the deal with ballers outside the White Palace Grill?) With regard to Shoals' appreciation of appreciation below, we figured that Ballhype's incredible video tribute was worthy of its own post. Enjoy:

I am a relative FD newcomer (I got out of social services last December and discovered the joys of a job that allows me to chill on the internets while at work.) and I have become a devoted follower.

I was inspired by all of the FD retrospection and began educating myself on the site's beginnings. Can someone enlighten me about what became of El Huracan Andreo? He seems to have disappeared sometime in February of 2006. I had a similar question about TrentonHasslesCarmelo.

I thought Steven Hunter was going to be the truth in Orlando. He was Denny Green's version in that he was exactly was we thought he was. One of the few draft picks the Magic could have made to most efficiently minimize their draft.

Praise god for Jeryl Sasser and his University.

Are any of you planning on seeing Young Frankenstein in Grant Park tomorrow night?

A few of us are planning a potluck beforehand. All are welcome.

I'm not sure if potlucks are FD.

Potlucks can be freedarko, depending on who you invite. Homemade guac, yes. Green bean casserole, not so much.

White Palace is the balls.

JJC - I feel that homemade guac has been invited. Or perhaps a seven layer bean dip in its place.

DLIC - I sent an e-mail to freedarko@gmail.com... I think that's right?

if your potluck green bean casserole isn't FD, you're just not making it right.

What shows up more times - scenes from Curb Your Enthusiasm, or shots of Clinton playing the sax??

I'm still around, sort of. I lurk around and read the site on a rather regular basis. Shoals, DLIC, Recluse and the others are doing such an outstanding job that my presence has hardly been missed.

But for those curious, the reason I stopped writing is rather pathetic.

I got superstitious.

Most of my contributions under this moniker reeked of blatant fanboy homerism about the Miami Heat. After I wasn't able to post for a stretch in late 05/early 06 because of work commitments, the Heat proceeded to go 20-5 in Feb/March '06.

Knowing I hadn't posted anything in the same months that the team had started to really jive, laziness and superstition became a fear that if I actually said anything about the league on the blog, then the Heat's season would go disastrously kaput - again. Absurd, of course, but in the end it was deliciously effective.

I wrote dozens of shitty pages about the playoffs, the finals, and the afterglow that simply didn't merit being finalized.

I now realize that I sold my FD soul to the devil for that championship, basically blowing my entire wad for a parade.

It was well worth it, of course. I've been on a vacation from the league ever since. Didn't really pay much attention this past year at all. Ironic how the Heat basically behaved the same way.

I may or may not contribute again any time soon, but I'm a bit encouraged by a gassy feeling in my pit that I've had lately when reading about the latest league tidings. Could be a sign that I'm actually beginning to actually give a fuck again.

Anyway, video is truly a treasure.
