I nearly posted a comment posing the question Jamario Moon: FD? I'll have to be thankful for Rudy Gay.

I'm thankful for the internet, and being able to download games to watch, instead of waiting the (as in one and only) game of the week shown on TV in Japan. Less thankful that now I can watch the bulls, they suck.

But definitely thankful for seeing Ty Thomas vaulting Rip Hamilton while blocking a shot.

I'm thankful for the boys at Freedarko, and all the knowledge they're spilling on the 24-7 tip. I'm thankful that Amir seems to have fully embraced that idea of maximizing potential as goal and not as an end all to itself, ala the stro show.
I'm thankful for the steve nash viral on youtube, the Gil spots at adidas.com (is the lobster on the AS ballot - he'd be a better guard then 'toine) and the d-wade spot (chills of genius). I am NOT thankful for d-wade's new shoes. Looks like a crossover of Kobe's ill-fated boots and an LA Gear mishmash from the late '80s. Not cool, nor kosher.

Thankful for the emergence of thief extraordinaire Ronnie Brewer, Manu improbably playing the best ball of his life, sopcast and Knowshon Moreno.

A long time ago I would’ve been extremely thankful for Bull-Knicks at the Garden on a Saturday afternoon, but jesus is that shit depressing now.

I'm thankful for this line:

Kyle Lowry: 31 minutes, 17 points, 2/5 FG, 13/14 FT, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 6 turnovers, 5 fouls.

I love the man to death but was unfortunately unable to watch. Eyewitness accounts would be much appreciated.

I'm thankful for Monday evening.

That's how it went in my head.

I'm thankful that LeBron is a freak, and that sometimes reading the box score is enjoyable in itself.

"He might be the only guy I've seen that looks like he was engineered to play basketball," Danny Granger, who guarded James for much of the game, said.

Are we sure Granger doesn't read FD?

though Thanksgiving is over, allow me to give thanks for the fulfilling of a once-bright prophecy:

Sebastian Telfair: 20/8/3 in 37 min, win over NO.

Does it mean shit? probably not, but at least he did it once.

Through the fire, son.

I assume the long delay in posting is due to the FD staff being at a loss for words after the stunning Marko Jaric developments.

20 PPG in consecutive games, holy smokes!! I guess Antoine is not the only All-Star guard on that team.

A) The stunning Marko Jaric Development has to be him tapping Adriana Lima

B) I'm always thankful for Wire-Sports crossovers, especially ones that compare KG to Daniels...

You guys know that Dr. LIC has a huge column up on Deadspin, right?

At 11/27/2007 6:06 PM, Blogger Trey said...

With regards to the Doctor's column:

Weren't we all shaken to the core by the Warriors of last June?

Weren't we all hoping that what they accomplished would be a catalytic event for a league of anti-stars?

Guys who were cast-off from other places, salvaged by the one man who could use what they had to offer is the kind of storyline that can renew the spirit of a beleagured junkie. It doesn't take the implosion of the star system to realize that the Warriors were/are the embodiment of an ideal that is (likely) impossible to replicate. Just like the '04 Suns, the Warriors work(ed) for reasons that are hard to understand but are beautiful to experience.

That being said, the Deadspin piece was on point. Just seems a little after the fact.

Wait, Dr.: Baron wasn't THE man during the Warriors' run last year? I mean, I love Barnes more than the next guy, but BD was a friggin supernova in that constellation (no, I don't know anything about astronomy).

The thing that comes to my mind with the Warriors style of winning- not play- is standardization, you know, the business concept that makes you replaceable with another guy off the street and an email from Careerbuilder.
The Pistons and Spurs "right way" model is one of 'we have 5 STARters, all basically prototypes of their position and a bench to support them. We can either win with star power (Big Boring, Belgie, Sheed, Mr. Big Shot), or by making you pick your poison from a doubleteam'
The Warriors are more like "We've got 8 guys between 6'5"-6'10". They're all quick, can all start if necessary, can all shoot threes, and display flashes of defense and rebounding prowess in discrete 5 second bursts. The law of big numbers says they cant ALL suck at once ALL the time. That's our story and we're sticking to it."
