Do You See Who I See?

Skeets and I had just been talking this morning about how dry the NBA YouTubes had been lately. Doubt and thou shall receive.

Is that Meng Bhateer?

Yes, it is. And whoever can name all three NBA teams he played for (and maybe even the one he was on for only two days) without using google will have my eternal respect.

Naming Meng Bhateer is sufficient to earn my props. I do admit I was dying to know who would win that staring contest, but like some sort of Asian Hitchcock movie, we'll never know the ending.

His-true-name-was-Gerald Wallace is recovering more slowly than expected from his concussion.

This is happening.

Mengke Bateer - Nuggets, Spurs (he has a ring!), Raptors. Probably the only Mongolian who will ever play in the NBA. I heard that when he showed up on the Spurs - you know the Chinese Nat'l team doesn't do a lot of weight training - but just because of his natural strength he was the strongest spur except for Kevin Willis, putting up like 350 on the bench press without a lot of effort.

It's too bad he was so slow, because he is so strong and he can shoot out to the international 3-point line. His Xinjiang team won the most games in the CBA this year, but they were disqualified from the playoffs for trying to pass off their Chinese-American backup point guard as "Chinese" and going over the foreigner quotent.

T, that was very impressive, but i'm guessing your residence in china has you knowing a lot about mengke bateer. either that or its kind of freaky knowing all that.

EL MIZ - well, I've actually met Bateer twice. Once in 1998 when he DEMOLISHED an 18 year old Yao Ming in a CBA game (and I said these words "This guy is supposed to be in the NBA? I think he might be worse than Shawn Bradley") and once when Bateer was taking a year off from basketball and living in Houston, just working out.

This video is pretty much representative of what Bateer did in the NBA except he exhibits significantly more mobility and athletic ability in it.

I can confirm that video El Miz just linked to was indeed shot at Boston College.

I can also confirm that I skipped through the thing in about 15 seconds because it was awful.

What was the intent to posting that?

WV: pgeifmn - Point guard embargo is failing to make news.

T., wow. Even your slight misjudgement of Yao can't make this less impressive. I remembered him from the Nuggets but would probably have had to take 28 more guesses to get the other two.
