22 People Doing 21 Things

The question was asked: "How can I read only your stuff at The Sporting Blog?"
The answer: THIS

Now, a new feature called "What do you think?" Why are so many centers technology buffs? Tell me!

  1. Pardon the middle-school armchair sociology, but centers are going to have more social problems as kids than guards. Height past a certain point is a social handicap, athleticism a boon. People who don't fit in spend more time with their computers.

  2. And, to finish the thought, this is why the higher up you go the measuring stick in the NBA, the more interesting the people, for the most part. His game is a blight on the sport, but Shaq is undeniably a fascinating character. I don't think someone like that who is 6' 2" makes the league. There's just a set of non-optimal competitive character traits that you only get up where there's less competition.

Your section of the Sporting Blog doesn't appear to have an RSS feed. Can somebody here who plays the 4 or 5 please explain how I can find an RSS for that stuff?

  7. Well, maybe the big man's game is more natural science vs. the guards' social science. Except for Dwight Howard, the low-post position does favor "technical" over "organic", "methodicality" over "fluidity". And even Shaq is more or less applied physics.

Also, via Truehoop, this Obama interview on 60 Minutes, especially relevant for the last minute of it.

Hillary better put in some work on her cross-over.

  8. Technology is a manifestation of change, a push forward. Centers, on the other hand, have absolutely nothing to do with this. Opposites attract.

  9. Sometimes I wish I were 7 feet tall. Is it a stretch to think that sometimes 7-footers wish they were me?
