As far as the content, the meme the because a player plays in the Eastern conference amongst crappy teams that their job is somehow easier is catching on disturbingly quick. If I switch Lebron James and Carmelo Anthony, how does Lebron suddenly have a harder job than he does in Cleveland? Suddenly he's on a fast break team, with AI and Camby and JR Smith that plays in high altitude. If Lebron was in Denver they'd probably have a better record than the Lakers.
There's a huge difference between trying to get Devin Brown and Sasha Pavlovic involved in the game to get a win, versus passing it to AI.
And that's just the 8th seed out West. Put Lebron on that young Blazers team instead of Roy and that's a playoff team. Put him on a middle of the pack West team like the Jazz and how do you stop them?
Meanwhile if you put Kobe or Paul on the Cavs who are the East fourth seed--and they are going to have the exact same problems Lebron has.
East west doesn't matter when you are talking about individual players.

ReplyDeleteTrue. A sense of humor and a basketball IQ too. Bottomline is that the East is weak. So for Lebron to barely be above .500 speaks volumes about his value as a teammate.
ReplyDeleteName one player that has been better when teamed with Lebron. Larry Hughes got worse. So did Gooden. Kobe did more with Smush Parker than Lebron ever dreamed. Desagana Diop suddenly blossomed when he left Cleveland. Anybody notice how Wally Szcerbiak lost his shot playing with Lebron?
Don't get me wrong, Bron's game is sweet. I like watching him. But realistically he kills his teammates. Not unlike the Philly version AI.
Wanna talk about playing with bums? Kobe took a starting lineup of Smush Parker, Kwame Brown, Luke Walton, and Lamar Odom to 45 wins in the West. Not one of those guys even touches the jock of 2-time all-star Ilgauskas. Lebron needs to man up.
The idea of Lebron as a teammate killer is pretty amusing from someone who opens by criticizing someone else's basketball IQ. Whether or not he makes his teammates better is a conversation that needs to wait until he HAS teammates. Diop got better because he grew up, and Wally sucked a loooong time before he got traded to the Cavs.
