U.S. mercy, charity, and hope

While it's perfectly occasion-appropriate to spend all morning jawing on about whether or not Big Ben can retain his folk hero status, this country isn't all fun and semiotics. And I'm sure everyone already knows ten times over, Lamar Odom lost his six-month old son this past week; this is terrible enough by itself, but for Odom it comes as the latest in a McGrady-esque run of personal tragedies. In lieu of cards and flowers and whatever else fans feel compelled to send a celebrity in his most somber hour, he has asked that people make donations to his foundation. It helps underprivileged children and fights cancer, which would be a comically vague goal were it not for the fact that Odom grew up poor and lost his mother to cancer at age twelve.

In this kind of situation like this, it doesn't really matter that Lamar is an eternal FreeDarko favorite. Since he is, though, we're sure that the secret gods who oversee this site's doings would have no problem with this special offer: send us $20 or more to put in the official FD donation coffers, and you'll get one of our treasured shirts for the low, low price of $7.50. That's half-off, nothing but cost, and does us absolutely no good—other than service unto the true spirit of some version of this nation.

Send an e-mail to Elgin Baylor, he just donated 24 million to the Tim Thomas fondation, at least he'd get a free FD T outta the deal.
