I Want a Month

This video says something about the draft, watching the draft, and these hours leading up to the draft.

Seriously, I have not turned my back on this most treasured event. It pains me like nothing else that FreeDrafto has not been it's usually sticky self this time around. But between an incredibly disjointed Houston-to-Seattle move and some other FD-related shit that's way bigger than blogs, I've been stuck under a mule. Hopefully, at some point I will tell each of you in person how I feel about everything.

What I can offer you:

-Longform on the deeper implications, and strict internal crises, that surround certain lottery picks tonight.

-I'll be live-blogging the unwieldy monster on Deadspin. I am getting a hotel room, locking myself in there with a pizza and some downers, and hoping no one gets embarrassed too badly.

-And finally, thank you to Sally Jenkins for quoting me today. I know that's both uncharacteristically humble and kind of corny of me, but I like that sentence a lot. In fact, I think we did the mock draft just so I could use it somewhere.

I juts really want to see stephen jackson, al harrington, jason richardson and baron davis take young Yi Jianlian under their wings and raise him as their own.

Congrats on the WaPo quote. That line deserves to be repeated as much as possible, and "foulmouthed yet poetic" is an appropriately flattering description of FD.

Goddamn, I can't wait for this thing to begin!

Yeah, picked up the paper this morning and had an "I know that guy!" moment.

Jenkins may have also been making a point about sources of quality sports writing after Mike Wise emitted this overlong and underinformed whine over the weekend:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/06/22/AR2007062201886.html

More cliched garbage equating all blog writing to stream-of-consciousness blather. Steinz is laughing at that fool's inability to differentiate form and content.

Anybody else think the Longform byline should be "Shoals (R.I.P.)" ? We need you over here man, stop letting them suck the life outta ya.

Man what the hell is Hawes wearing, and why is it trying to fly off of his body like that? Even the guy's clothes don't want any part of him. Steer clear, McHale.

Linking to Predator 2 clips instead of Predator clips is FD.

Can someone link to these pictures being talking about? Or am I stupidly missing something in the post that takes you there?

Okay, it turns out I am in fact stupid.

Aug's quote about Yi being raised by the Warriors squad is right on the money. It's not exactly along the same lines, but a lot of what Vlade Divac became was a direct result of being raised by Magic during the 1991 playoffs. If he would have come into the league on any other team, he probably would have turned into an absolute bust. Yi would be a good fit with GS, because from what I've heard, he's already pretty Americanized.

These pictures prove once and for all that the dork is making a big comeback in the NBA. What we should really be looking out for is who looks uncomfortable, and I think that shows that Acie Law is the baddest dude in the draft. As if we couldn't tell already.

Marvin Williams and the #11 for Devin Harris and two second-round draft picks (likely not the one traded to the Mavericks for Anthony Johnson). Would you do it? The Mavericks don't seem like they will.

I guess the Mavs would have to make minor salary adjustments. J.J. Barea in the trade?

I HATE ESPN MORE THAN ANYTHING ELSE.

Seriously, the draft is ruined. They already told us that the blazers decided on Oden#1. Durant is going to. They just reported that the Hawks re-promised Horford 3. The grizzlies made a promise to Conley at #4. I guarantee you they tell us the entire order of the draft 15 minutes before it starts. I hate how they do this. This was the scene at the UF press conference for the 4 juniors "here we go live as the gators are about to announce that they're leaving early for the NBA draft". Thanks a lot. I hope they tell me who wins the superbowl next year. I miss the time when there was mystery to sports.

See, but Green does the cargo pocket proud by bringing it upstairs with the Jimmy Walker Jacket. With Brewer, it's not the pockets themselves, but the prep-to-pimp combo that doesn't work.

Durant is so Shaolin.

wv: smenita: I can't believe how long I kept her around. What was I thinking?!
