O Darkest Night
Below please find some amazing links, and the latest podcast.
-Earlier posts here, on draft fashion psychoanalysis and important details culled from past telecasts.
-My virulent, FD-friendly, reaction to the Shaq trade.
-Joey, after being crucified for his NY-centrism, has decided to change horses and look to the Wolves that could be.
-On the latest FD Presents: The Disciples of Clyde NBA Podcast, Dan, The Recluse, Eric (Ty Keenan), and myself attempt to talk about the draft, and instead spend almost 20 minutes trying to say something about the Bucks. Performance at its finest.

Does everyone remember when, upon acquiring Shaq, Kerr said that if it works, he's a genius, but if it fails, he's an idiot?
Danny Ferry is a fucking idiot.
wv: ancepr--what I stuttered when it looked like this nonsensical trade would actually happen
Yeah. Fuck this trade. It's a parallel move on Cleveland's behalf. There is no future in it. Only added pressure for the Cavs to win immediately.
I agree that it is insulting to LeBron's intelligence. He better be fucking pissed. I don't want him to smile once this year. He should pick a fight with Shaq within the next 48 hours to be the alpha dog on his ass--first-day-in-prison-fight-the-big-crazy-fucker-style.
Also, I predict LBJ accidentally runs into Shaq in the lane at least once, resulting in an angry exchange of glances.
Yes, Danny Ferry is a fucking idiot.
Hopefully we're nearly at the end of this antiquated, center-centric thinking.

Marvel Team-Ups were usually disappointing for the same reason the US started losing in Olympic basketball. Ie; can't underestimate the value of time-bought chemistry (X-Men, The FF, Avengers, Ultimates) vs. random pairings of superstardom. (Shaq & Amare, Wolverine & Hulk)
I don't understand the hate of the 2007 Draft on the podcast.

I think we're in part talking about how hyped it was. Like, this was going to rival 2003, albeit mainly because of the obsession with 1/2.
That said, I think you're being way too charitable in some of these cases, and have also underestimated Thaddeus Young. That tier below Durant should have Horford, Green, and possibly Sessions and Young in it (next season pending).
Belinelli will be the rebirth of Hersey Hawkins.
Spencer Hawes is now better at being Brad Miller than Brad Miller.
2007-2008 will probably go down as one of the best two year outputs ever. In line with 92-93 rap albums. Kevin Durant being "The Chronic", Al Horford is "Mecca and the Soul Brother", Rudy Fernandez is "Guerillas in tha Mist", Derrick Rose "Midnight Marauders", Russell Westbrook "Enter the Wu Tang (36 Chambers)" and Anthony Randolph is "Buhloone Mindstate."
Insanity everywhere. VC to the Magic, so probably no more Hedo.
Also, Amare to the Warriors a topic but Nellie not interested? And Scott Skiles likes Brandon Jennings?

Do the Magic need to sign a SF now? I know Vince is a swingman but I don't see them starting him and Pietrus, their bench would be far too thin. I'm guessing they're pushing for a defensive wing who can hit the 3 for just at MLE price. Artest and Ariza are probably a little out of that price range. Seems like a lock that Turko will not be coming back...
They, like the Cavs, have one move left to make if they want to come out of this arms race on top.
Yeah, I think the criticism of Joey got a little personal there, but I guess the fact that it produced such a strong, visceral reaction in everyone is a testament to the writing piece.
now it's like the wolves that should have been. minnesota ruined my night. and jordan hill, who is so fucking boring.
holy shit. this post + comments is full of fucking hip-hop win.
and "henry winkler on arrested development" is the funniest thing i've ever heard.
